JADE
JADEThe real US jobs report (NFP) is the government one on Friday; this is the private ADP one on Wednesday. They're measured differently, so the numbers often don't match.
JUDITH
JUDITHSo it's not reliable?
JADE
JADENot directly. But it can shift the forecast for Friday, so the market reacts. Think of it as a "Friday preview"

The gap vs. forecast Fcst Consensus Data 22:15 release Stronger Market-moving Weaker Reverses As expected = small move
Price moves on the size of the gap vs. forecast, more than on whether the result is good or bad
▲ Stronger than expectedStrong jobs → Friday's jobs report may be strong too → USD tends to rise
▼ Weaker than expectedWeak jobs → Friday's jobs report may be weak too → USD tends to fall

These are common patterns. Depending on the news at the time, price can move the other way.

The direction is different every time. Right after the release, price can swing either way.

4Prop firm watch-outs

It is risky to decide what Friday's jobs report will be from the ADP result alone and take a big position. The market can swing twice that week, on Wednesday and Friday, so don't use up your weekly loss budget on Wednesday.
